Some of our Clients might be aware that over the course of the last month the related fields section inside CRM 2011 and 2013 were not working. This was due to a OTA(Over the air) security patch (KB 4013429), which Microsoft did to stop an exploit. However there was a hidden issue within the update, causing customers who had installed the update to break the display on the related records within CRM 2011 and 2013.
This issue was shortly acknowledged by Microsoft with update KB4016446 for Win 7 and Update KB4016635, KB4016637 for Win 10 both of which directly addressed the issue of CRM not working. This was almost a week after the bug had been unleashed. Leading to some CRM users having innovate solutions like the CSS trick. Other solutions included switching over to Firefox, which was not effected by the bug.
Things to take out of this fiasco.
Whenever possible read to check the effects of security patches.
The other is to think about perhaps upgrading existing 2011 and 2013, over to newer versions of CRM since Microsoft has stated in the past that they will not be supporting older visions of CRM. Which means the issues can happen again with the OTA update.
